Welcome to Current Affairs—a blog about electric cars, road trips, and the quiet joy of traveling with a battery instead of a fuel tank.

The story began in 2015, when I drove my diesel from Harstad to Oslo to trade it in for my first EV: a Nissan Leaf. With me were my eldest daughter and a plush giraffe who insisted on coming along. The plan was simple: pick up the Leaf, drive it back north. The reality? It took five years before I finally made that Oslo–Harstad trip in an EV. Let’s just say the charging network in Northern Norway wasn’t quite ready for me back then.

Since then, I’ve driven electric through snow, sun, cities, and countryside—across Norway and deep into Europe. Charging along the way has gone from “slight adventure” to “pleasant excuse for a coffee break.” These days, it's less about stress and more about planning smart and enjoying the ride.
